Mr. Deity is well worth my monthly $5 contribution.
thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you ! 🙂
The “no free will in heaven” is the point I always bring up whenever a Christian tells me that suffering is a necessary result of people having free will. Therefore, they’re saying that heaven can’t have free will.
I got it, you got it, but I’m not sure how many of the viewers out there would get it.
By the way, the discussion that Mr Diety has his all-knowingness turned off, reminds me of PZ’s post from a few days ago about the Bellagio in Vegas. In a previous episode, Mr Deity said that he had to turn off his all-knowingness because of all the men masturbating – he said it was like living in front of the Bellagio.
Fascinating point. And would there be freedom of thought in heaven? If not, could we still be said to be conscious? I have heard believers say “No, you won’t be your ego any more, but your soul will live forever, subsumed into the mind of God” or words to that effect – whatever effect that is.
But there would still be freedom of thought in Hell, or else how could we suffer?
So to build on Mark Twain,
Heaven for climate and homogeneity,
Hell for society and identity.
This video has the Mormon scientist ad, too. (See climbing turtle video post).
Try loading the page in a new window. For me, Firefox and IE both seem to put the wrong videos in the wrong places when I just hit refresh.
I’m a father/husband and a baby-daddy…
…and I’m a Mother/wife/sister…
…and I’m a Mormon.
I got Mormon (accommodationist) ads every time. I have a weird feeling that some asshole at Google/Youtube has programmed the embedding feature to detect when the vids are off this website.
Install AdBlock Plus. It’s free. I haven’t seen an ad on any page for years.
Really funny that he mentions Chick Corea & Stanley Clarke (current and former Scientologists) right after slamming Scientology.
I wonder if this is unintentional humor.
Is “theodicy” the same as “the-idiocy”?
