I don’t see the problem with these tweets. Criticize my religion and you die. Same message that christians have been putting forth for 2000 years.
Just wait till they all realise it’s the title of a book. Bonfire, anyone? From the level of literacy shown, however, I doubt that any of them would get past the title anyway, as that’s the only bit that limits itself to single syllable words.

Yawn. Mohler will burn in hell alongside Hitchens for his unbelief:
1. Christopher Hitchens did not die of unbelief. He died of complications from cancer.
2. No, his unbelief is not all that matters now; either regarding his legacy, or the future of the atheist movement. Damn ambiguous statement.
3. If you’re so sad for him/us/the world, why are you such a prick? I fail to see how that helps anything.
From my experience, no one compares with a Southern Baptist regarding the self-assuredness of his claims and opinions, with the possible exception of a teenager.
Can’t help but notice the tweeter’s name: mohler. Well, it certainly isn’t Wisdom Tooth, now is it?

How did Hitchens die from unbelief?
At a stretch Jobs could be said to have died from unbelief in modern medicine, but medicine is hardly something to believe in.
Such a pity that we can never get to point the finger and say “I told you so”, when Mohler shuffles off his mortal coil.
Probably Mohler means that if Hitchens had believed in teh good lard, teh good lard would’ve spared him.
But shouldn’t you spare the good lard anyway, since too much of it can give you heart disease?
Apparently teh good lard celebrated Hitch’s death and slept in late today; he was unavailable to help Tim Tebow and the Broncos.
He wasn’t celebrating, he was barricading the door and hiding in the closet.
I would say Jobs died of belief in his own invincibility, rather than lack of belief in medicine. To put it bluntly he died of stupidity, an often fatal condition.
They’re coming out of the woodwork now as expected, gloating over the dead whom they could not defeat in argument while he was alive. In fact this is the type of brainless comment that if he said this to Hitch when Hitch could respond, he would probably get hitchslapped.

That Hitchens died is sad. That Mohler doesn’t get reality is sad (gods, “died of unbelief” (?)).
That the Mohler’s of the world are so afraid that they had to wait to dance on Hitchens grave is not sad. It is Hitchlarious.
I don’t really care about any jackass who says somebody is going to “hell”, since that place doesn’t exist anyway. Just spare me the bullshit “I’m so sad about it” routine. Take your faux “sadness” and shove it up your ass.

The link takes you to “Up with Chris Hayes” this morning on MSNBC as four duh guests remembered and derided Hitch as a “militant atheist.” The action starts at 24:18. Listen to them as they conclude that Hitch was just another fundamentalist believer, just like the ones he so derided all his life.
Hayes played a small snippet of Hitch carefully and rationally explaining why the acceptance of religious dogma is severely injurious to ones brain. His simple explanation floated way over the top of the heads of the clutch of educated fools assembled there, further proof that to grasp rationality one must first have more than three neurons firing in their skulls at any one time.
Talk about simpletons, these twits really take the cake. They all sound so “schooled.” I doubt any of them have learned much of anything about our natural history and even less about the history of their own mind diseases.
I don’t even *get* that comment, “his unbelief is all that matters now”. Maybe just as well…
Maybe that’s because it’s (but only slightly) out of context.
Mohler started with a comment that a lot of people read as if he said (which, granted, he technically didn’t) that Hitchens died as a consequence of unbelief.
The quote above appears to be his ‘explanation’ to people who misread that original quote.

It’s worse than some of y’all might know: Mohler is a full-blown, five-point Calvinist. He believes, that is, that some are selected for Heaven and some are selected for Hell before the beginning of time, that the fix is in before we are born. Go back and re-read his tweet now, and you begin to understand that it’s so out of sync with his imbecilic theology that nothing but malice can explain it.
Mohler’s excrescences raise the single point about which I am in severe disagreement with Dr. Coyne: Mohler is too a moron.
Why is Mohler sad? Does he not believe that Hitch is being tortured, and that that torture is a good thing?
Of course, deep down he understands that any god that would create a hell and send any creature there for unbelief is by definition wicked.
I sincerely doubt that.
He doesn’t have the required depth for that.
If anyone feels a need for more outrage, read the tribute to Hitchens from Ross Douthat, a smug American Catholic, who uses the occasion of Hitchens’s death to remind us that living a full life as an atheist is impossible, and so Hitchens couldn’t really have been an atheist. He closes with
presumably oblivious to the fact that the tradition to which he adheres requires him to understand this to mean that Hitchens has now entered into his eternal torment.
What’s sad is that he died so early. His fight against childish beliefs in public life is heroic.
To be clear: This is a sophisticated theologian way to say, “Heathen is burning in Hell. LOL!”, yes?
If it’s ‘unspeakably sad’, then it either shouldn’t or can’t be said. These people both think nonsense and find it impossible to accurately articulate what they think.
From what I’ve read, Heaven is eternal torment and available only to those who deserve it.

About what I’d expect from the likes of Mohler. Hitch himself obviously didn’t think just because someone died that makes them entitled to pulled punches and undiluted praise, and I’d wager Christopher would be amused by such a perfectly stupid “tweet.”
I can understand if the fundamentalists & co. are delighting in Hitchens’ death (I don’t think that’s exactly what Mohler’s doing in his tweet though). Look at the explosion of atheist vs. theist debates wrought by new atheism in the past eight years. From the theist perspective, it’s as if one of the other side’s most effective generals has retired from the battlefield.
Christians worship hate.
Theists obey fear.
How predictably medieval – reminds me of Coulter’s comment about Richard Dawkins in hell. Paraphrasing Hitch, terrestrial North Korea are quite sufficiently dreadful enough without imagined celestial versions of dreads of something after death pushed by people whose raison d’etre seems driven fundamentally by fear and resentment against freedom of thought. I think Hitch would have had quite a laugh and with the additional irony that the dear leader would follow him the very next day.
