  1. Reminds me of when the priest, the minister & the rabbi were arguing when life begins. The priest said “at conception”; the minister, “when the fetus is viable”; the rabbi, “when the kids move out and the dog dies.”

  2. It is fairly obvious that the Religious Right is not interested about reducing the number of abortions in America. If they did they would be in favor of comprehensive sex education instead of abstinence only education. They have fetishized virginity as purity and are obsessed with punishing any woman who has sex before marriage.

    1. I love your phrase ‘fetishized virginity as purity’. And if they wanted women to keep their babies, they would offer financial support.

  3. Just last night I got into a “discussion” with a fundamentalist about how idiotic I thought Rick Perry sounded in the Republican debate. She tried so hard to turn the subject to President Obama, and when that failed, she threw in “abortion.” It can be totally off subject, but it will always be brought up!

  4. Love it! Jesus nails it. But there’s so much more to the story.

Randall Balmer, a contributing editor to Christianity Today magazine, writes in his book “Thy Kingdom Come” about how the Christian right first coalesced around the government revoking Bob Jones University’s tax-exempt status because of its racist discrimination policies. Abortion was merely an afterthought. There’s an interview with Balmer on NPR from 2006, as well as the damning exerpt from his book.

This is great material to shove in Christians’ pious and ignorant faces.
