Simian hijinks (warning: NSFW)

Posting on Mark Vernon reminded me of this video, in which two monkeys, working together, pants an old dude.  Is the bathing-suit removal accidental, or a deliberate ploy to distract the guy and steal his noms?

  1. I must have missed something! I saw a guy who looks like me lose his shorts to a monkey (hey, we’ve all been there!) but I didn’t see an “old dude.”

  2. It wouldn’t surprise me if the wee little rascals have discovered that their odd cousins often drop goodies in their hands if their clothing is dropped to their knees.

  3. … right. I learned a new verb, and that warnings about NSFW sometimes means Not Safe For Eyes. Now I nedz an ai baff!

  4. I’m sure they have a lot of experience when it comes to getting stuff from people. It isn’t just chance that he approached the bather from behind.

  5. We were lately in Thailand and feeding the fish in the moat in Chiang Mai. There’s pigeons there and they want to get fed too. They’ve come up with a technique that’s interesting: as you pull out some fish food from the bag a pigeon flies up toward your face causing you to startle and usually drop some food. Very sneaky. They do it enough (and always in our experience just one bird doing it while the others wait on the ground) that it’s clear it’s deliberate.
