Why Evolution is True is a blog written by Jerry Coyne, centered on evolution and biology but also dealing with diverse topics like politics, culture, and cats.
I think anyone who has not studied any scientific discipline (to, say, degree level) will find the jargon hard to fathom. I think that is one of the reasons why some people find evolution so hard to swallow.
It is made even more complicated, of course, by the fact the some sciences, such as biology, use pre-existing, commonly used words, but with a very specific definition, which can be confusing for the non-scientist.
At least mathematicians use new words or, at least, words not in common parlance. 🙂
