Animals reacting to music

March 22, 2019 • 3:15 pm

I like to end the work week with animal videos, and here’s a delightful 5½-minute series of animals reacting to music. Note the music-loving kittens at 2:43,  Paul McCartney vs. the locusts at 3:08, the concertina-loving cows at 4:19 and the green parrot at the end who, hearing the Titanic theme, plays “king of the world” before going nuts.

  1. Lovely, peaceful and just downright adorable. Just what the doctor ordered after another crazy-filled week in the world.

  2. I’ve always considered the military brass-band marching music as music made by apes for the pleasure of horses. Ink the days that music was written the cavalry still was something.!

  3. That elephant was playing the piano. I’m thinking it was trained (and the other one was trained to twerk.)

  4. Thanks for these audiophilic (don’t think it’s a word) animals; I’m sure Eric Burdon would LOVE it.

  5. What a great video! My guitar scares the shit out of my cat.

That parrot had the proper reaction to “My Heart Will Go On.”

    1. Oh, and McCartney, what a pro! I would have absolutely freaked out and run to my dressing room that moment I saw one of those things. But I’m about 100 times more frightened by spiders and bugs than my cat is of the guitar.

    1. After listening to that I want to sic that parrot on that dude with the recorder.

      1. You’re crazy. That’s the greatest video ever put on Youtube.

I hope you were watching the imagery. It was just as brilliant as the playing 🙂

        1. I couldn’t stand it so muted it after 50 seconds. Then I decided I just had to hear the rest of it (the ‘gory-car-crash’ reflex) and started laughing.

And it’s from NZ, shock horror. Our Gummint banned semi-automatic rifles, maybe they can ban this too, before we get accused of crimes against humanity 🙂

          1. OTOH it’s got 27 million views and 524,000 upvotes, which probably makes it a more successful export than Lord of the Rings. And all on a budget of $257.32. Move over Peter Jackson.

          2. He has another one on his channel of him doing the Shire Theme from LOTR.

The first time I watched that video, I started giggling uncontrollably with every false note. And the imagery of him running his fingers across the picture of some woman and standing on the shore with his open shirt flapping in the wind are just phenomenal.
