    1. That is the Devanagari script, but it’s used for over a hundred different languages. However, there is a large Indian community in the north part of Chicago (centered on Devon Avenue), and I believe that Hindi is the most common non-English language there. There’s also quite a few Punjabi speakers, but in India, at least, for the latter language Devanagari has been replaced with a script called Gurmukhī.

      In any case, the languages used on Chicago voting receipts are not necessarily representative of one’s voting district; the same receipt is used citywide.
