I still have lots of photos taken by reader Benjamin Taylor on his camping trip to southern Africa in 2015 (Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Zambia) . Here are some more:
African savanna elephant (Loxodonta africana):
Springbok (Antidorcas marsupialis):
Namibian giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis angolensis):
Plains zebra (Equus quagga):
The vast Etosha salt pan:

African savanna elephant (Loxodonta africana) having a dust bath:

The two black and white images stand out. They abstract the creatures from their brown, dusty environment. The elephant especially reminds me of a book I owned as a child with all black and white photos of African wildlife.
Great shots…..
I’ve been lucky enough to have also done a camping trip across those countries. I don’t think any of my pictures were as good though.
I’d recommend Botswana, Namibia and Zambia as destinations for anyone wanting to see African wildlife. All the animals you could wish for, in settings still unspoiled by mass tourism. And, an increasingly important thing these days, all safe, stable countries to visit.
Wonderful pictures. And the use of B&W is very interesting.
Just a mention – the six Elephants have arrived at the Henry Doorley and will be acclimating for the next 30 days.
African fauna is amazing and always a treat. As others mentioned, the B&W photos are stand-outs.
Great photos of magnificent animals!
