The Pink Panther Theme, and the Addam’s Family
Yes they are and I was introduced to a harpsicord by Lurch playing it on said Addams Family show. Vick Mizzy.
Yes Pink Panther creeps theme by the great Henry Mancini.
Those were fantastic! (PP and AF).
I managed to pick out one of them correctly, even before I clicked on the link to hear it. (wouldn’t have considered the PP theme to be Halloween-themed though – not until I heard this version).
PP is not technically Halloween, I know, but it’s fun to play and being cat themed, it is WEIT friendly!
Definitely WEIT-friendly. And, while not technically Halloween, you *made* it Halloween. (gave it Halloween “eyebrows”)
I got them immediately. I had thought the P.P. theme was borrowed from something else, but I learned from the internet that Henri Mancini wrote it for the original early ’60s movie.
Ah, thanks, one score down!
I learned that the creator of TAF was Charles Addams, before I thought it was a take on the religious myth of an “original” pair.
The tv show gave us the names of the characters and also gave us Thing. Maybe cousin Itt too, but not sure about that.
It’s the theme songs from the Black Panther – it’s Halloween, after all – and – I believe the correct spelling – The Addams Family.
So where do the Halloween scores come from? Meowzart and/or Beathoven?
Black? Lol. Black is the new Pink?
Those are very different kinds of panthers.
Nice job! And a nice harpsichord, with the bone naturals and Flemish papers.
I’ll always remember when I was recording Ed Parmentier playing the Bach Partitas — the Gavotte from Partita VI reminded him of the Addams Family theme, which he started singing to harpsichord accompaniment. I have it on tape somewhere.
Ha, I’d love to hear it! I often hear snippets of familiar tunes in the music I play. It can be rather distracting.
For spooky, try
J. S. Bach Toccata and Fugue in D minor for organ (BWV 565)
That’s what I was expecting, even though it is rather on the nose.
I’m an organist and tomorrow I’m going to play the E minor fugue, 548 (The Wedge). It is full of haunting chromaticism.
Now let’s hear “The Munsters.”
Ooh, a suggestion for next year, excellent!
Pink Panther theme- Henry Mancini
2. The Addams Family theme (courtesy of my wife–I never watched it.)
_The Munsters_ had its moments, but _The Addams Family_ had the sharper humor and the better writers. And the more memorable characters:
Lurch: “You rang?”
Gomez: “Tish! That’s _French_!”
Thing: (Circles thumb and forefinger.)
Grandpa: 60 watt AC.
Wednesday: Pet spider.
The only thing The Addams family didn’t have is a souped up car. But their care did have explosive power though.
Thanks Taskin. Fun listening.
