Philomena’s back! This short clip, directed byJonathan van Tulleken, was an entry in the Virgin Media Shorts in 2010, but didn’t win. Nevertheless, it’s very good; or maybe I just like it because Diane Morgan’s in it—along with the rejected schmo, Joe Wilkinson.

Me too! I was ready to pick up some vintage PCC cowboy boots – hopefully autographed.
We have boot sales, but I too thought Jerry was pointing us to a footwear event.

I don’t know why either. I thought it was hilarious! The ridiculous premise that she finds ugly stuffed animals romantic was funny enough but when the Kangaroo appears…… My parents d*g is staying with me for a few days and the poor beggar nearly jumped out of his skin because I was laughing so hard.
Not the most hilarious video but I’d just like to say that Joe Wilkinson is quite often extremely funny and has been excellent wherever I’ve seen him, whether it’s stand-up, Cats Does Countdown or Him & Her(I’ve just realised that Diana Morgan has a small role in Him & Her as a furious downstairs neighbour – I’d never recognised her before).
So, Jerry, now you know that Philomena likes stuffed kangaroos (and not woozels??) You must have a spare roo somewhere in your digs??
Just got the boot bit – duh…
This being an American website, I was expecting Jerry to point people at a footwear sale too, so this was a nice surprise.
And I thought it was really funny, although if it was the woman going away alone, I would probably have cried. I guess it depends which character you empathize most with, and for me that will more often be the woman.
I found it quite moving – empathising with the man.
What was the little stuffed critter? A hyrax?

Yes, and I’ve seen a few other photoshopped versions of that picture too. There are probably hundreds by now. Probably lots on 4Chan, but I’m not heading that way to look for them.
For the benefit of ‘mercans, a car boot is what you call the trunk. A car boot sale is a way of selling unwanted (or stolen) goods. Here in France they are called ‘vide greniers’ which means empty your attic, though in fact it only empties one attic and fills many others.
It’s a Freudian video. What Philomena is telling us is that for her, size matters.
Honestly, I came in because the topic reminded me Jerry’s cowboy boots — that boots make me feel Jerry is going country dance right away. After reading the comments, I know the video has nothing to do with it, oh that saves me time. :). I’ve only watched 2 or 3 episodes Philomena.
