I have a stuffed starling – I mean ‘taxidermised’ stuffed – that I got when I was 8, but I don’t think it counts! (though it is right over my bed in a glass case!)
You want the bear itself? I’m betting you’ll have few takers. Or was there a missing “picture” in that request?
The picture of course! I wouldn’t want to deprive anyone of their childhood toys!
The German’s have a great series of children’s books by Janosch about the adventures of the bear and the tiger. Unfortunately they haven’t been translated into English.
There’s a challenge for you then!
I’d botch all the nuances in the language. The German literary intellectuals in the 4 to 6 year old age bracket would be sure to get wind of it and laugh at me.
There is a German book about a squirrel as well isn’t there?
I wasn’t allowed a Teddy bear as a kid…damn asthma. I did have a candle shaped like a d*g though

doing a headcount around the living room though … it’s remarkably owl-deficient. Only 18 of them.

No teddies or dolls for me. I had a collection of stuffed lion toys, the first of which my parents still have: Larry the Lion, a pull-string talker. Here’s one in good shape (mine is much more worn):

I don’t have a story. I’m 32 and I sleep with a care bear…that is the story and it isn’t funny.
My teddy will be turning 60 this coming May…. Apparently when I received it at age 1 I was somewhat afraid of it.
He’s getting rather a lot of bald patches, all over rather than just on his head like me. There’s the usual sound mechanism inside the abdomen, but I don’t recall it ever working, so it must have broken very early on. He does still have both his original eyes though, and I’ve never seen him use reading glasses.
