My interview at Random Rationality

May 24, 2013 • 10:54 am

A while ago I had a longish phone interview with the website Random Rationality, which they transcribed and put up a few days ago. It’s mostly about evolution, but covers other stuff too.

You’ll learn, for instance, what time of day I wrote on this site, (I have a “strict regiment,” one of several transcription problems), and about my “science operation” (that’s “sinus,” as you may recall). But beyond those errors and the verbal jumping-about inherent in  a conversation, it’s not too bad.

    1. The context clearly states that Wilson, for one, thinks differently. Thus, unresolved.

  1. Amusing slip-up near the end: “doing a blog, or website, has opened a lot of doors for me…”

    Primed by language of interviewer.

    1. Good eye. I like to think we all influence Jerry is some way – I think I probably cause him to slouch more….just through my grammar 😀

  2. Good god, you write everything that you post here in one day between 6a and 8a? TWO HOURS?

It takes me that long just to get the cat off my lap.

    I feel . . . inadequate.

      1. He gets up for noms and to have a pee.

As soon as he gets up, I make a run for it, hoping to reach my desk chair before he does. I lose, and then spend several minutes putting him down, trying to sit before he’s jumped back into the chair.

        It’s utterly hopeless.

        1. So, typical healthy human-feline relationship, in other words. Good to know!

I find that the draped-across-the-shoulder position is actually quite effective, as it permits a greater degree of mobility on my part. And he likes it, possibly due to the elevation…he’s something of a climber….

          1. Well, look at it this way. You’ll both have an incentive to whip him into shape and the means of doing a bit of muscle toning yourself!

          2. Marta, IIRC, already practices some form of martial arts. Probably necessary, what with Evil…
