The weather is finally turning springish here, and the time change allows me to be home at sunset. Here are photos from the last two evenings (click to enlarge):
Did you solve your camera cleaning/replacement dilemma?
I wish it was turning springish here in the UK. Today I’ve driven through a snow storm, sleet and hail stones, it’s freezing cold (my car was covered in frost first thing this morning) and I’m still consuming energy in keeping my cental heating going.
Brrrr.
On Monday, April 1, this week, the low was 18°F (-7°C) in the morning and the HIGH was 34°F (1°C).
Ugh! I am so sick of winter. Still plenty of snow on the ground here (though with 50°F (10°C) and rain forecast for the next few days, it should all be gone shortly.
(I live in south-central Minnesota, the west and slightly north of Chicago. We are called, “the Twin Cities” of St. Paul and Minneapolis. 45° N Latitude: same as Paris, but with a climate more similar to Siberia. Don’t even ask why I live here …)
You take excellent photos, Prof. C!
What’s that glowing parrallelogram on the building in the lower half, center, of the photo?
That’s the Smurfit-Stone Building, also known as the Diamond Building. It was built
in the mid 80’s.
I have a friend from college who compared the arrival of spring in Hyde Park with the behavior of frogs. As the first not-so-cold days arrived, you would see one or two scouts appear in the quads, bundled up, and reading. Then as it went from not-so-cold to almost warm, and as the days lengthened, you would see some more appear. Then as the temperature increased to slightly warm, you would see more people, fewer jackets, and more activity.
Then, before you knew it, it was actually summer, and all the students went home, and Hyde Park was actually liveable (that’s my addition).
Nice ones!
