Benton! Jesus Christ!

A propos of nothing. First this video from Richmond Park, on the outskirts of London, which has been a deer park for centuries. Man chases dog chases deer (moral: keep your dog on a leash!). Then a mash-up with the excellent American Werewolf in London…

  1. A moral is the point of an instructive story; morale is the measure of confidence of an individual or a group.

    1. Thank you. One of the things I like about this site is that it’s one of the few places on the internet where a commenter can be “pedantic” (i.e., give a shit about things like spelling and facts and such) and not get a bunch of grief over it.

  2. LOL! Hilarious! Especially after watching the second video! I haven’t laughed that hard in a long, long time! Thank you!!!

  3. Ha! I grew up near Richmond Park and spent many days in my youth exploring the park. Good to see that it’s still there and looks mostly the same (I’ve been in the USA 20+ years now).

And the overdub of American Werewolf is great – a fine horror parody further parodied. 🙂

  4. (moral: keep your human on a leash!)

Fixed that for you.Haven’t you noticed how dogs sometimes take their leashes to their humans when requesting to take the humans out for a walk and give them a bit of overdue exercise.

  5. Well, I feel sorry for the poor deer here, but I can’t help laughing at the hopeless owner lolloping along behind the carnage, and the snigger from the camera operator. (But I’ve driven across the park on many occasions and would have been livid at such a stampede if I was behind the wheel!)

Apparently there’s an interesting perceptual illusion here too, because the dog is called Fenton, not Benton; bs and fs are hard to tell apart without visual cues, I think I recall from a brain doco a while back.

  6. It’s a black lab… no wonder. A poorly trained one at that. Keep in mind that game wardens in several states are allowed to shoot a dog that chases deer. Keep your dog alive and on a leash.
