Best biology Fool: This one is truly amazing, and gets the overall prize. It’s Tetrapod Zoology’s “Science meets the Mokele-MbeMbe“, describing the rediscovery of a lost dinosaur.
It includes a dissection of the sauropod:
Best atheism Fool: Greta Christina’s annual atheist conference, with some great sessions.
Dumbest creationist Fool: The Discovery Institute blog Evolution News & Views pretends “Boy were we wrong!“, a post that proves, at torturous length, that IDers have no sense of humor. Among the hilarious news items in their pseudo-post are these:
The final triumph of Darwinism will be officially celebrated at the U.S. National Academy of Sciences in Washington, DC, on April 27, 2011—the 140th anniversary of Charles Darwin’s historic Nature article on “Pangenesis.” In that work, Mr. Darwin defended his theory that “gemmules” scattered throughout the body explain the inheritance of acquired characteristics. Although long derided by religiously motivated followers of Roman Catholic priest Gregor Mendel, pangenesis is currently enjoying a renaissance among Darwinists, who are confident that everything written by The Greatest Scientist Who Ever Lived will ultimately be proven true.
Meanwhile, there are rumors that the National Center for Science Education and the American Civil Liberties Union will share the Nobel Peace Prize later this year for promoting Darwin-only education and thereby saving civilization from the forces of darkness.

Yay for Tet Zoo and the incomparable Darren Naish! And Greta Christina’s conference looks so good, I’ve started booking my plane tickets!
My favorite is booking the Four Horsemen for the diversity panel on Monday morning….
Cheers,

Damn! Now there’s some fine humor!!
Wher’d it come from? A reject from Readers’ Digest?

I don’t get it. Creationists are the ones who think they have infallible ultimate truth thingies beamed into their heads. Creationists are the ones who are freakishly obsessed with Darwin. Every time they open their mouths they’re saying something about Darwin. I don’t get the joke. *shrug*
It’s really funny… if you don’t think about it. It’s a perfect example of the concept of “know your audience”.
I love Darwin & I want to have his babies! Oh – too late! And I am not female!
Then we will fight for your right to have Darwin’s babies (perhaps the fetus can gestate in Darwin’s black box?)
I think the big one we’re all still wondering about is whether or not PZ really is the Digital Cuttlefish. I’m starting to think he really is, and I’m not quite sure what to think about that….
Cheers,
b&
I think he must be, it’s not April 1st in Australia anymore but his posts are still on Cuttlefish’s website. 😉
Saw PZ last night in Elmhurst. Of course it’s a prank. Good one though. PZ liked Greta Christina’s best. I’ll go along with that, but I really liked WEIT’s a lot.
If the authors of the Mokele Mbembe paper wanted to see examples of phylotardation, they didn’t have to go to Africa, there’s some fine examples in Kentucky.
The Very Big Atheist Conference 2012.
Ooooh Karaoke!!
VBAC. Hard to get your OB to go along with that.
*grumble bloody PZ had me fooled grumble how could he mumble*
Greta Christina’s was hilarious !
I love those ostrich dissection photos <3
No sense of humor? Anyone remember that Fox News answer to the Daily Show?
Anyone?
EXACTLY.
I must say, I was none too surprised to see at least one YEC trumpet the falsification of evolution by the finding of a reptile in Cambrian strata (the April Fool’s joke on Panda’s Thumb) on a YEC discussion board, only to later claim he knew all along it was a joke…
No sense of humor OR humility!
