Well, there you go. “The physician who performs euthanasia assumes unique responsibility for the act of ending the patient’s life.” Who else should do it? Hospital food service? Maybe they are thinking or God almighty. But he never arrives until the full gauntlet has been run. So why the reluctance to accept the responsibility doc?
Now the part about patient’s rights is on the money. Pain control. Hooray! Respect for patient autonomy. Yes sir! But if the patient in his autonomous lucidity wants out, then respect not so much.
