Thanks for the excellent photo of an adult Cooper’s Hawk! Still a gorgeous raptor and a very accomplished predator of its nonspecific fellows. They find the relative abundance of various pigeon/dove species on college campuses to be great dining. They are almost identical to the smaller Sharp-shinned Hawks with squarish tails and smaller heads who also prey on smaller birds.
I very much enjoy your daily blogs and have used some of your referenced works in my biology classes, particularly my Biological Evolution Seminar. I teach at a small church related liberal arts college where the students are required to take four religion courses, although thankfully it is not a bible college and the President is a liberal.
Your book and blogs help with my sanity and well being here in “as RED as we can be” Montgomery, Alabama!
