Matthew, who loves quizzes, insisted that I post this tw**t. He says “n.b. the scale is in centimeters, so it’s very big!”
I’ll let him post the answer in a few hours. He adds, “Don’t go looking! Guess!”
Here we go! Who made this track, found in ne British Columbia along a river? Tweet me your guess & RT! Answer to #NameThatTrack at 5pm MST! pic.twitter.com/rCYLrmx7Wh

I’m going to say gray wolf (looks like a badge I had as a Cub Scout).
Good guess. Since we see sharp clawtips I would guess it’s probably not a mountain lion or lynx or other cat. Maybe a bear would be a good guess too?
Bears are longer in the foot I think…
I don’t think a mountain lion or lynx print would show claws.
Yes! It was ringing a bell!
I wish it was some kind of felid; but, I would probably be in error…
Clearly a canid. Coyote or wolf.
Judging by its size, it would be either a large wolf or dog. Definitely not any sort of cat, raccoon, otter, or bear.
raccoon
Big raccoon.
Wolverine or otter?
My 1st & 2nd guesses as well. I lean toward wolverine because I’m thinking that the definition and height of the ridges between the toes precludes webbed paws.
Mustelids have all five toes on the ground, but I see only four toes in the picture.
It’s a starfish covered in soil.
10 cm – size of a human hand – last time I saw a wolverine it was in a zoo & I was 9 so I cannot recall how big they are, but it is fairly heavy. N
Front left foot of a wolf…? π
A forest star fish!!
Close, but no cigar π x
Looks like an otter to me. Or a weasel of some kind.
I will go along with others to say wolf track. Wolverines have longer claws & I think they would show 5 digits (but I have not checked that).
You’re right, I was wrong above. This track is clearly not wolverine or otter. I think that pretty much leaves wolf or coyote. By the size I’d say wolf.
Toe count also rules out bear.
Gray wolf.
Bigfoot’s dog.
Its a big dog.
I think it’s a bearcat. There are many of them at Northwest Missouri State U.
Werewolf (since a wild guess is allowed. :))
Maybe a crocoduck!
It’s a river otter track, I think.
It has a look of a Wolf Track.
