Over on the blog Science-based Parenting, a reader of WEIT reports finding a creationist bookmark inserted into the copy he bought. Apparently a creationist group is visiting bookstores and placing into the “bad books” bookmarks bearing a Bible verse and the caricature of a celebrity. Well, at least my dollar bill bore the likeness of Dustin Hoffman, one of my favorite actors. And if my book can’t hold its own against a random Bible verse, I’m in trouble.
Creationists sabotage WEIT in bookstores!

They have no arsenal to use. After all, you use facts, evidence, logic, critical thinking and intelligent discourse. All they have is bible rot.
They are running, scared.
I ordered a copy of a book by Richard Dawkins from Alibris. It came to me from one of the independent sellers of the Alibris group and contained a Baptist screed. It was printed in three point type in red on white paper. Not a marvel of legibility. Some poor sod needs to get a life.
This reminded me of something biologists might wish to do to assist bookstores. 😉
While it may gone underground, or at least inactive, the general idea of the blog, “Biologists helping bookstores” is the helpful reshelving of creationists screeds out of science and into the religious fiction section.

Action to the People!
Biologists to the Bookstores!
I remember finding something similar to Chick tracts in books about evolution in a library back in the late 80’s.
That makes no sense, but then again I shouldn’t try to hard to make sense out of this Banana-lover and Child Actor duo. I wonder if the celebrities whose likenesses were used will sue?
Maybe a little off topic…
I’ve noticed [and countered]that unscientific science-placed books have been faced out — to draw attention, by the store or others! — at both Borders and Barnes & Noble stores in my rednecky city.
I exchanged those choices for the alternative. Example: Politically Correct Global Warming book, with Al Gore… everyone’s got to have a hobby.
Good news: As of February 12th ’09, Darwinia is winning over the alternatives.
Can’t wait for his 300th.
