Andrew Sullivan put this video on his column today as a “Mental Health Break,” and I got sucked into it. It consists of 80 famous song intros played back to back on the piano by David Bennett. How many can you identify? I haven’t had time to go through them all yet, but I think I’m getting about 85%. The titles are in the upper left-hand corner, so either cover that or turn off the video and just listen if you want to guess.
If you have the patience to go through 16 minutes and make marks of the ones you don’t know, put it down below. I will do that later, so look for my comment below.

24/80 correct. I blame this dismal showing on the fact that despite being a music fiend I hardly listen to any pop music made after the 80’s ~ hadn’t even heard of many of the performers. Thinking I’ll do better on the guitar guy.

My guess is that he recorded the clean guitar signal along with whatever he’s using as a practice amp, and then choose a suitable software amp model when editing the sound for the video. Otherwise that would be a logistical nightmare.
Okay, I just did the guitar challenge. I got 50/80 – did really well in the 70s and 80s, but my hit rate dropped dramatically in the late 90s.
And I heard Paul stepping on effects pedals quite a few times, so he did it real time – respect!

Just a comment on the music in general, the more modern stuff is not too bad when instrumental (imo). My criticism of the heavy metal stuff (when listening on the radio) it sounds pretty similar to the stuff I listened to fifty years ago.
That was fun. But many I knew but could not correctly provide the actual name.
My disdain for what passes for popular music these days means I missed most everything that come along after 2000 or so. But I will be checking out a few of them now. Thanks for posting this gem.
