Readers’ wildlife photos

We have a new contributor today, so take heart from Tim Carroll of New York and send in your good wildlife photos.

Tim’s captions are indented, and you can enlarge his photos by clicking on them.  To wit:

I am neither an ornithologist nor a photographer.  I think of myself as a birdwatcher who takes pictures.  These photos were all taken in central New York.

Common grackle (Quiscalus quiscula):

Prothonotary warbler (Protonotaria citrea):

Wilson’s snipe (Gallinago delicata):

Bufflehead (Bucephala albeola):

Mute swans (Cygnus olor):

American avocet (Recurvirostra americana):

  1. Lovely – and themed, too all though the swans are reflected (kind of…) more in the snowy background rather than they are in the water.

  2. The swans look like they’re daring each other to put their posteriors into that cold, cold water.

  3. I’d say you’re not only a photographer, but a good photographer. Thanks for these beautiful photos.
