Readers’ wildlife photos

Send in your wildlife photos!

Today we have a batch of lovely eagle photos from reader Steve Adams. His intro is indented, and you can enlarge the photos by clicking on them.

For the past 6-7 winters we’ve been getting the occasional Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) or two that would hang around our neighborhood. This year, we seem to have had a population explosion! The past few months we’ve had 3 adults and 5 juveniles in the area. It has given me the opportunity to watch them interact. They are mostly tolerant of one another around the deer carcasses they were feeding on, but would occasionally spar and chase one another. These images were taken between November 2020 and March 2021. Most of them are from near where I live and a few are from areas around the Finger Lakes region of New York. I am excited for Spring, but am going to miss the daily eagle sightings.

  1. What a terrific set of photos- lots of action, vivid and sharp photography. It doesn’t hurt to have such a grand subject. 😉 Thanks!

  2. Thanks to everyone for their kind comments. I appreciate it! It was a lot of fun making these photos and I think I learned a little about eagle behavior.
