Kamala calls Joe (or vice versa) with the good news

November 7, 2020 • 11:37 am

This is such a lovely tweet that I had to put it up by itself. We mustn’t forget that not only was Trump defeated by Biden, but we have the first woman VP in American history, and, if she does well, she now has a fairly direct route to the Presidency. Sound up!

My editing of the Washington Post‘s woke headline:

      1. I’ve been bracing myself for a while. It started with the Bundy acquittals in Oct of 2016, which gobsmacked me. Then Clinton lost, and I was devastated. This time I tried to smoosh down any hope I might have, and now I am letting myself feel it all again. It is lovely. And like I said, the best bday present I could ever hope for.

        1. It’s my best friend’s B-day today too (we’ve been friends for 44 years). I called him this morning and he told me just what you wrote- best birthday present ever. Yip, yip, yippee!

And happy birthday to you too!

          1. The smarter (don’t ask me for the IQ scale) one. I believe it is the one who has the same first name as the Trump, Donald.

          2. If they use what mathematicians call the “non-standard reals”, maybe they’ll be comparing a pair of IQs which are both infinitesmal–that is, smaller than any positive real number, despite being still larger than zero.

    1. I feel the same. What a relief! I still remember the feeling of dread and foreboding when Trump won 4 years ago. I think I was in the shower for almost an hour, just stunned and numb. And at the time, I had no idea of how bad Trump would actually be. This is an unbelievable feeling of elation that I’ll never forget. And I’ll always remember where I was (living room 8:30am) when it was called. It’s great to feel hope and joy with my fellow Americans (helps living in a blue state).

My folks love Trump…don’t think I’ll be speaking to them for a while. Too hard not to gloat.

      1. I think it’s an open question about just how successful the Biden-Harris administration will be in addressing the ….well…the mess they have on their hands. But one thing I am very hopeful they will accomplish is to return the office of the President to a place of respect. One of the many tragedies of the Trump years is the near total loss of the dignity and credibility in the presidency. In 2016 I don’t think I really grasped just how much we were to lose.

I think Biden and Harris will be successful even if all they do is this one thing.

        1. “I think it’s an open question about just how successful the Biden-Harris administration will be in addressing the ….well…the mess they have on their hands.”

I understand and sympathize with your concern. In the future, anytime some omniscient Op-d writer or politico, etc. questions the “leadership of the Biden administration, they better address in the same breath the breathtakingly obstreperous, snake-in-the-grass opposition of Mitch McConnell and his ilk, the assuaging of whom I doubt anyone has sufficiently osculatory power to effect.

  1. Congratulations America, thank you for doing the right thing. I’m a little emotional, the last four years have been so awful, and I often feel like we set it in motion with the Brexit vote. And what an awful year it’s been so far

…But BOOYAKASHAH! He’s out! Give yourselves a small pat on the back,

    love, the UK

    1. Thanks Saul…and during these last 4 years, you’ve posted some brilliant and hilarious take-downs of Trump and the GOP. Thanks for fighting with us.

  2. I wonder if they have talked yet about how close the country has come to losing it. How weak and flimsy our form of government really is and what should be done to prevent this happening again. How do you make nice to 70 million who actually voted for this disgusting and cheep character. How do you reel that in and how do you do anything with this senate? Lots of luck I will say.

    1. Unity called for ? Well, of course, Randall
      / All.
      B U T. A unity that SERVES the MASSES.

And NOT a ” unity ” that We of the People
have .always.always. had to back away from
and to submt to only those selfish TAKERS
      o’th’ 1% to have … … = only the TAKERS’
      way of things.

Unity for ALL of Us Who Have .ALWAYS. ALWAYS.
Deserved a Voice / Our COLLECTIVE Care =
      egalitarianism, healthcare, liveable minimum
wages. et cetera, et cetera, soooo, so much
which We the People DESERVE … … within
this unity. NO more … … grabbing.
      NO more … … cages and orphaning. G I V E.

    2. We can only hope that eventually many of them will emerge from the fog they’ve been in. Or to use another metaphor, maybe it’ll be like a veil has been lifted, and they can finally see clearly.

    3. If the British Tory Party 45 years ago can elect a woman as leader and a heavily unionised manufacturing based Britain elect that Party to govern Britain four years later, anything is possible. Stay positive.

  3. Congratulations to all Americans. This from a Canadian long afraid of this current chaotic, capricious, and toxic president. A cancer in democracy has been excised. The future won’t be easy. But for now we should all exhale and celebrate. Ding, Dong, the Witch is Dead.

  4. Little blurb on CBC radio few minutes ago. Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau can now stop walking on egg shells wondering what Trump will do next in the way of tariffs etc.

  5. Hurray! You might want to emphasize that the popular vote is a complete rout — Biden now leads by over 4.1 million votes, likely to reach almost 5 million when all votes counted.

  6. I heard that video was trending and I thought it sounded silly, but I am in tears watching it.

Maybe that is what Trump was for. It feels like nothing could be that bad, realistically, nothing could be as bad as he was.

  7. “We mustn’t forget that not only was Trump defeated by Biden, but we have the first woman VP in American history, and, if she does well, she now has a fairly direct route to the Presidency. Sound up!” We had a female president in Brazil, she was awfull. And by the historic of Harris, she is also awfull. But hey, GIRL POWER! What a wast of digital space.
