The conservative Washington Times reports on the rise of a group of Trump supporters called “Trump 2024”, which has created a Kickstarter page to fund an eponymous documentary film. The previews are scary, putting you into the world of these religous nutcases and loons who, yes, do seem like “deplorables.”
Their aim? Apparently to preserve Trump’s “goals” after he’s no longer President, which, I hope, will be in January, 2021, not 2024.

Evangelical and social conservative supporters of President Trump are producing a film warning of a “one world government” based on socialism, the rise of the anti-Christ and other end-times calamities if Mr. Trump is not reelected in November.
“Trump 2024: The World After Trump” features interviews with a diverse group of Christian and conservative commentators, including former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, the Rev. Franklin Graham, syndicated columnist Star Parker and Mike Lindell, CEO of My Pillow, among others.
On Monday, the Christian movie company Resurrection Pictures released a trailer for the film and announced a Kickstarter fundraising campaign to distribute the movie to as many as 1,500 theaters in “key markets” nationwide.
Here’s a 2.5-minute preview, warning of the rise of socialism and other calamities should Trump’s legacy disappear. “Promises made, promises kept” indeed! No promise was kept. Every hot button that motivates conservatives is mentioned. But it’s now beyond me, after we’ve had 3.5 years of this moron, how anyone can deem him a good President.
Here’s another film from the Kickstarter website, which adds some excuses for Trump’s craziness. Many of the same Trump boosters appear who were in the clip above, as well as the head of “Resurrection Pictures,” who’s making this film. If you look at the Kickstarter page, they’ve nearly reached their goal.
How did we get to this point? Well, at least I’m reasonably sure he’ll be defeated in November, and I’ll have my own private Kickstarter with the several hundred dollars I’ll win in bets.

I was fearing something far more scary when I saw the group was named “Trump 2024”. They needn’t waste their money, the world will be remembering Trump’s “legacy” long after he’s departed office (hopefully as a result of the forthcoming election), but not the version of it that these fruitloops imagine.

The best I can say about this movie and or video is — you can try to feed this stuff to your cat but it’s not likely he will eat it. And that is the problem with having lived through 3.5 years of this guy. Unless you have had a complete brainwashing equal to the North Korean variety, everything said in the video is meaningless. His treatment of every issue has been failure whether it is China, Russia, Syria, N. Korea or all of our allies. And domestically he has been much worse. We would be much better off if he had just golfed everyday and did nothing.

I think the core of the problem is that that is pretty much what actually happened. Trump did the public preening and wielded the Presidential crayon at photo-ops, but in any meaningful sense, these loonies *have* increasingly been in charge.
To think that Trump has done nothing domestically is a denial of reality. Let’s just consider a few – huge tax break to the rich, just about shut down immigration, attempted stealing money from defense to build walls that Mexico was suppose to pay for. Has tried and continues to pursue taking medical insurance away from thousands of poor Americans. Has materially killed several major departments within the government and taken over others such as the justice department. Currently removing any crimes committed by his friends including Flynn. Yeah, he doesn’t just golf and do nothing.
And stacked the courts with ideological right-wing loons (though he had a lot of help from Moscow Mitch). At least Gorsuch may not by a sycophant.

What, exactly, is Trump doing? Trump has done nothing in nearly a full term but tweet and pass a tax cut. He hasn’t delivered on any of the promises that made people vote for him. Hell, even one of his Supreme Court picks is, apparently, not a certain vote for the Conservatives. There will always be lifelong Republicans and Democrats who vote solely based on the letter next to a candidate’s name, but, for anybody who voted for Trump because of the policies he espoused, they should be regretting it because it’s clear that he (1) can’t govern and (2) isn’t very interested in governing.
And we’ve been hearing talk of a “one world government” for decades. Politics has no memory, I guess.
These movies are not designed to change anyone’s mind. Rather, their purpose is to rev up the base and Trump sympathizers to come to the polls in massive numbers, which is the only chance for Trump to win. To this, add a little voter suppression, and Trump could pull it off. If this happens, kiss democracy good bye. Just imagine four more years of Bill Barr standing alongside Trump. Just imagine what will happen with Trump even more under the sway of his religious advisors.
I fear the real purpose is to milk money from nitwits.

As a kid, I read far too much of what I’ll call ‘rapture porn’. The themes are pretty consistent in this sort of ‘literature’. The antichrist is well spoken, a fan of the UN, wants to bring world peace, end hunger and supports science.
This is what the villain in those stories does. I was always conflicted, because those things sounded pretty good, even to kid-me.
I have a $100 bet with Ken Kukec that Trump will win which I made as soon as the Democrats made Biden the official pick. It’s not looking good for my bet but it IS looking good for the world and the USA as it would best if Trump lost. I would prefer to lose this bet than win it. Winning it will only be a consolation prize and not enough of one.
And as much as I am looking forward to losing this bet I am already seeing too many Democrats acting as though this is practically a lock now and some are even using the term “basket of deplorables” again which many including myself see as emblematic of the attitude that got Trump elected in the first place.
The reason I made the bet was because of how incredibly terrible a candidate Biden is. His healthy lead right now might have something to do with the fact that he has been kept out of the spotlight where he can’t bungle this but he can’t stay there forever. At some point Biden will start campaigning and his lead will dwindle. I hope I lose this bet. I hope Jerry wins his bets. But I’m nervous that you are all counting your money already and Biden hasn’t started campaigning yet. And who knows what the fall surprise will be?
You are probably going to win your bets but you seem too confident right now like Hilary was. She actually made efforts to help Trump win the Republican nomination because she thought he would be the easiest candidate to beat. No doubt Biden and the democrats will continue to misfire in their strategies and do their very best to help me win my bet. I hope they fail in that effort.

Now is no time for overconfidence by the sane, anti-Trump (slightly over) half of the US population. It’s time for Democrats to knuckle-down as never before in swing states.
Blame the electoral college. Blame Trump. Blame Trump supporters. Blame the deplorables. Blame white supremacy. If the Democrats blow this again, it will because they blame everyone but themselves for nominating Wall St. owned corrupt candidates and for throwing poor people under the bus every election.

What if Biden were to win the popular vote by a relative landslide (the largest in six election cycles), say by six points, 52-46%, yet Trump still somehow scratches out an electoral-college “victory” (a distinct, albeit remote, possibility)?
Can I carp about the deplorables and the abject stupidity of the electoral college then (while you count your winnings)? Or will it still be all about the Democrats’ stupidity for nominating a crappy candidate (one I did not originally support but which, as you’ll notice from my original response to your comment above, I continue to urge Democrats to work hard for and not get complacent about)?
If the most horrible man in the world, an obvious psychopath, wins the electoral college over your candidate, and you blame anything other than your choice of candidate and choice of platform, I don’t think you’re going to win the next election either.

This oft repeated claim, a meme that RP propaganda machine has worked hard to create and sustain for decades, is entirely inaccurate. The data is quite clear on this. That a significant part of the population denies this reality is the problem. How the DP can reasonably be blamed for that problem I just don’t get.

If Biden wins then the Dems will hold office for 4-8 years and then it will switch back to the Republicans because the poor people will realize that Biden has done shit to change their life in any meaningful way and so they’ll be looking for someone who promises new change and a “draining of the swamp.”
This cycle will continue with both parties selling out the poor until one of them steps up and actually makes real change. The Bernie and Yang wing is the only hope for Democrats. They done messed up again, regardless who wins in November.
I’m sure there is some truth to that. After all, money talks. But what about the fact that Dems have, over the years put forward legislation to restrain Wall Street, regulate big business and banks, as well as offer benefits that help the less affluent, like medical care. but the GOP seems to undercut these efforts. Seems to me there is a big difference between the parties, and voters must notice these differences. Polls show broad support for Democrat’s policies. So, I don’t think a Biden administration would simply perpetuate corruption as you suggest. If we could free up the will of the people from GOP voter suppression, I think we’d make substantial progress.

No, I’m not the blind one. The DP is of course guilty of all sorts of failings and there is plenty to criticize them for. The thing is, equating them to the RP of the past 30 years is delusional. There is no contest. Degrees do matter. In real life that’s all there is. There was almost no substantive issue in the films (except abortion). Just fearmongering. No recognition of any serious problems and how to fix them. Economic ties between countries is our best inoculation against wars as well as our best way to fight poverty. Unfortunately, now we have both parties trashing “globalism”. Tariffs bring everyone down and we have to fight climate change, energy problems, failure of fisheries, and so many things, authoritarianism, human rights, with global efforts.

Yes, but they were always going to vote for him anyway and, supposedly, their numbers are dwindling gradually as the country grows less religious. I guess what I’m saying is that not only is Trump not trying to widen his appeal, neither are his supporters. As far as I can see, they are painting themselves into corner. A video like this is more likely to turn off people who once voted for him than to add new supporters.

My hope is that the Trump presidency will remind most Americans of why we need (good) government. The pandemic is doing this also. Of course, not all will get the message.
It worries me a lot as well. Even if we rid ourselves of tRump in 2020, a far more dangerous candidate with the same politics but more appeal may face us in 2024.
