In Poland, Hili tells a variant of an old joke:
Ja: Wiem, dobrze przynajmniej, że jesteś za oknem.

In his commentary, Chris, who runs the farm and makes the videos (which is “an education & wellbeing charity in Devizes UK for young people”, mentions that tonight is Bonfire Night in the UK, which involves both bonfires and fireworks displays (this year it has nearly coincided with the Hindu festival of lights, Diwali, so it has been non-stop banging and crashing of fireworks round our way for more than a week). For non-Brit readers who don’t know, Bonfire Night is when people all over the country burn the effigy of a catholic, Guy Fawkes, who attempted to blow up Parliament in 1605. Whatever happens over Brexit, no doubt the British public will get over it quickly… If you want to know more about the whys and wherefores of the Gunpowder Plot, I wrote this explainer for the LA Times in 2006.
Not understanding anything about American “football”, I don’t get this, but I get the cat.

Posted at 3:54 Chicago time. Briton has always been ahead of us. Nice cat videos.
Phillip Johnson of Intelligent Design fame died a couple days ago. (In case nobody noticed.)
Yes, the birds were singing. The sun came out.
Still 4 stars on Amazon though. Along with the other ID clown parade of authors. I’m beginning to think every book on Amazon has 4 stars no matter how good or crappy lol.
Sic transit gloria mundi.
Nice piece in the LA Times from back in the antediluvian days of aught-six, MC.
Anyone else notice the cat coming out of the barn ?
Left gosling (?) to right gosing : ” ‘same old, same old’ on the TV tonight!”
There were a lot of fireworks around last weekend, mainly from public or communal displays. Not (yet) so many tonight.
It was once said that Guy Fawkes was the only man to enter Parliament with honest intentions. It has also been observed that he was a semi-competent religious terrorist. Take your pick.
That cat “knocking” the motorcyclist off his bike had me giggling.
Me too. And “knocking him down” and observing the aftermath, just nonchalantly licking his paws. Very funny.
