    1. CRAP has a nice ring to it. The weak anthropic principle (WAP) is that the universe must have properties necessary for the existence of us people. A tautology. The strong anthropic principle (SAP) says our existence is possible because of a plan. So it is teleological. There are other versions though, like CRAPY AND CRAPIER.

      1. The weak anthropic principle is not CRAP. It’s why we can dismiss crap (note lack of capitalisation) arguments from creationists like “how come the Earth is exactly the right distance from the Sun to support life”.

Nu the way, all of maths is tautology, so don’t necessarily scoff at tautologies.

        1. (Pedant alert) I do not think all math is tautology. I won’t make a lengthy argument.

          1. If true, Hilbert’s goal to axiomatize math would be possible.
          2. Godel’s incompleteness theorems.

          1. Sorry but it’s true. Every mathematical theorem, including Gödel’s Incompleteness Theorem is logically deducible from a set of axioms. There’s no new information in a theorem.

Just because something is technically a tautology doesn’t make it useless.

  1. Sounds like Jeebus needs to visit the Total Perspective Vortex. The version specially made for Zaphod, of course.

When you are put into the Vortex you are given just one momentary glimpse of the entire unimaginable infinity of creation, and somewhere in it there’s a tiny little speck, a microscopic dot on a microscopic dot, which says, “You are here.”
