Diane Morgan, my beloved Philomena Cunk, has stepped outside the Cunk persona to do a short sponsored video in which she tries falconry—with unexpected results. It’s pretty clear though, that Morgan— as she’s said herself—really is Philomena Cunk.
This is a lovely video, and brings Morgan’s work back to the quality level of her work for Charlie Brooker. Long may she run! I love it when she and the bird become enamored of each other.
I hear she’s got a new t.v. show on tap, and I hope it’s good.

All alone in the field…Just Diane and the falcon…
…and the camera person.
“Hello, I’m Diane. I’m not scared of birds.”
Wonder if Springwatch is online. Catch up on a few episodes in case I have the opportunity to invite a falcon for lunch.
The camera angles between Diane & the falcon are hilarious.
Good to see the Mancunian bird back in the saddle (so to speak), as sharp and fine as ever.
Good to know, too (pace Yeats), that the falcon can eventually, even in s widening gyre, hear the falconer.
Thanks for the Yeats reference. A more rapturous poem about a raptor is The Windhover, a sonnet by Gerard Manley Hopkins.
One of my favourite poems.
The formatting of the original is disjointed, too. Hopkins was a ‘modern’ poet, but WordPress has ‘enhanced’ it here.
Here’s a link to view the original https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/44402/the-windhover
Lovely. Thx.
I hate to be pedantic (who am I kidding, I _love_ to be pedantic..) but someone from Bolton wouldn’t consider themselvesto be a Mancunian. She is funny, though.
Thanks for the clarification, Tim; my ear isn’t sharp enough to pick up that distinction.
Ipswich?
And Ms Morgan + her pram workout:

Seeing as how this site likes owls, here’s a falconer(?) in Tverskoy Boulevard, Moscow with a rather beautiful owl.

The event was a sort of week-long history pageant spread through several of the main boulevards, with people in historical costume demonstrating old weapons and crafts and pastimes. The owl was quite tame and allowed itself to be gently stroked by onlookers.

So glad Philomena is back!
Philomena & the cute killer bird looked very comfy on the sofa together
The “Connect Four” game setup on the foreground table at 2:10 is wrong though – Diane or the feathery one have two unconnected diagonals of four red displayed. Probably distracted by the jigsaw making or the anticipation of Spring Watch on the Goggle Box.
New TV show is motherland. Pilot was last year, first episode is today here in Blighty.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p05j1jkp.
Her personna in Motherland ,appears to be the one whose shagged a few of the others Husbands in earlier times, and is looked on as a Slut by the others, with th e exception of two other Mothers, the Pilot was very funny, looking forward to the series.
Jerry and Philomena Cunk: the greatest love story never told.
Great video. The way she eyes that bird with contempt and fear is brilliant. What a performer!
