Breakfast in bed

It’s time for end-of-the-week squee. This Japanese video of a carrot-nomming hamster comes with the translated title, “Mike’s favorite food is carrot.” I believe it! Matthew sent me a link to this video a while back.

Speaking of anthropomorphizing animals, this Guardian article will show you how low the Internet has fallen.

  1. The curmudgeons among us will remark that the sound has been added and the chewing slowed down.

But who cares? It’s really really cute!

    1. I’m pleased to see Mike is chewing his food properly before swallowing in the approved manner.

(I’ve saved it on my hard drive to show my wife when she gets back from holiday).

  3. I remember seeing a thread on a forum where someone declared their love for Tony the Tiger and Chester Cheetah, but I’d like to think they didn’t show that love by tweeting porn of those characters. D:

  4. Hamsters appear to be popular pets in Japan since they fit well into small apartments. Sadly they have a short life-span which makes it difficult for long term bonding. But perhaps it provides good business for the pet shops!
