This is the second dollop of reader/photographer Colin Franks‘s delivery of a batch of lovely bird photos (Colin’s Facebook page is here). I’ll put up the third and final installment in two days or so.
Cinnamon Teal (male), Anas cyanoptera:
White-crowned Sparrow, Zonotrichia leucophrys:
Savannah Sparrow, Passerculus sandwichensis:
Great Blue Heron, Ardea herodias:
Canada goose, Branta canadensis:
Pileated Woodpeckers (babies), Hylatomus pileatus:
Beautiful work Colin.
I am fond of the short DOF look. Very nicely done.
Love the dripping duck!
Canada goose.
Whoops, you’re right, of course. How embarassing for this Canuck- dweller😱
Yes, but the alliteration was nice 🙂
Once again, these are positively iconic. I love the attention to composition.
Some off-the-wall observations, which may be because I am sleep-deprived:
The eyes of the Cinnamon Teal are positively murderous, which is a strange thing to say about a duck.
I think the specific name of the Savannah sparrow is kind of funny: sandwichensis? Was somebody hungry when they named it?
Mark, clearly the Cinnamon Teal was demon possessed.
I love all these photos! Stunning presentations. Thanks for the eye candy.
Thanks for the encouraging words. Everyone: Feel free to “like” my separate photography page on Facebook, linked at the top of this page.
Those are all amazing. Thanks for the reminder.
Love the heron photo – a terrific combination of movement and stasis, light and dark.
