Jerry insisted that if I did nothing else while he was away, I should ensure that Caturday was posted religiously. This is an Important Thing. And so without further fanfare, Caturday felids.
The Dodo reports on a cat that may have mistaken a moose for a squirrel. Easy to do, I’m sure. Ginger the cat was eventually disabused of the notion.
That’s at least half a life gone. Click though on the link for a video chronicling the meeting.

The Alamo has a new Official Cat. Her name is Miss Isabella Francisca Veramendi de Valero, which is quite a lot of name for a cat. She has taken up her duties after the previous regent passed away last year. More photos are available if you click through on the link.

In honor of Adopt-A-Cat month Homeward Bound Cat Shelter, Illinois put together a Yoga4Cats video
Of course, it involves humans doing the yoga and cats watching the humans cautiously. It’s not done to display too much enthusiasm for anything if you are a cat. Except salmon paste. Or in the case of my cat Trinket, an entire bowl of soured cream intended for human consumption.

And then, just to show that anything you can do I can do better, Cat wins hero dog award!
The cat Tara won the award for body-slamming an aggressive dog who had attacked her autistic 6 year old charge and chased it away.
Here’s Tara in action. It’s pretty impressive.
Still, cats and dogs can be friends.

I love how Mama Moose gives Ginger the stink eye, and then the stink ear, before standing up.
Ginger seems quite large and fluffy – is she a Norwegian Forest Cat?
Norwegian Blue. Beautiful plumage, that one.
The Youtube comments suggest that there is some fat under that thick coat, too.
This is an awesome yoga cat!!
That’s a cool cat!
So that is what security cameras are for.
Titan used to stalk deer in the back yard in his younger days. I don’t think that he had given full consideration to the consequences of actually catching one 🙂
I could have made a better yoga video than that — also more realistic. I have never found practicing yoga at home with cats to be as non-disruptive as is claimed here.
Moose mighta thought the cat was some sorta wolverine.
Perhaps Ginger just wanted some milk?
That is a very young mööse, perhaps only hours old. I think mom is still a bit tired from the effort.
Once she saw the kitty getting too close, her breathing looked more laboured. She wasn’t impressed.
I like cats.
I don’t care what anyone says, they are kind, loyal and protective.
And, pound for pound the most physically accomplished animal of all.
And the most beautiful and elegant while they are at it.
fearful symmetry, indeed.
Its a lie that kitties are aloof and unloveable.
Unlike dogs, kisssy time has to be on cat time, which is why my sweetie is sitting on me now.
Kitties certainly do value human, or box, companionship :p
“The cat Tara won the award for body-slamming an aggressive dog”
– already doubting the term ‘bodyslam’ actually happened, I watched the clip of the incident…
– …yep, not even close to a body slam ! More like ‘cat barges dog to one side, dog decides the scenario is not worth any further effort and allows cat to live’.
Surely that was a ninja dropkick, kitty-style?
investigate what such a kick looks like and answer it yourself…
That was a very bad, bad dog that Tara chased off – the child did nothing to provoke the dog or invade its territory, yet it stalked and attacked him. I’m probably as much or more of a dog-lover than most here, but I think that dog was almost certainly irredeemable. I seem to remember reading that the owner had it put down – a sad case to be sure, but the best choice.
I noticed that too, the stalking. Quite disturbing to see a dog act like that.
That cat is just lucky that the møöśē didn’t bite its sister…happened to somebody I know, true story….

What an ace cat! And there’s no uncertainty about why it helped the kid out…it just saw injustice – and the opportunity to kick doggy ass – and had to act.
“The Dodo reports on a cat that may have mistaken a moose for a squirrel.”
Man, there just _has_ to be a Rocky & Bullwinkle joke here somewhere …
But that trick never works!
One name for each paw, and some little bits left over for nose and tail. Seems to cover all points.
Perhaps the cat was hard of hearing and heard a mouse instead of a moose
