Friday: Hili dialogue

April 24, 2015 • 5:11 am

It’s Friday! What seat can you take? And I’m excited that we have a very special Readers’ wildlife photograph feature later this morning.

Otherwise  I must put in an 11-hour day, but I get to relax a bit this weekend. Sadly, Saturday (Relaxing Day) is predicted to be rainy in Chicago. But I can’t grouse, for it was determined by the laws of physics. Meanwhile in Dobrzyn, Hili speaks ex CAThedra, for her dialogue has a religious-themed title (check the link):

Hili: I have a message to the world.
A: What’s that?
Hili: Meow.

In Polish:
Hili: Mam przesłanie dla świata.
Ja: Jakie?
Hili: Miau.

  1. I am goining to try to find some St. Mark’s flies this weekend. They emerge on or around St.Mark’s day… the males have huge bulging eyes & the females look like a fifferent species – they are fatter & I suppose full of eggs. Often seen on apple blossom, so maybe Hili could look for them!
And maybe if you watch tonight, you will see the ghosts of those who will die this year!

  2. Hili’s message is perhaps a reference to the “eternal punishment” of sin, and may be a cautioning of pet owners.

The Catholic Church calls an unhealthy attachment to creatures, a venial sin, an attachment that must be purified either here on earth, or after death in the state called purgatory. I’m betting Hili’s staff do not feel threatened by this perverse view, but is merely amused by it.

  3. Good that you mention the Holy Sea today as there is news — a group of terrorist have been rounded up in Italy. Apparently they were planning a strike on Vatican city.

What a contrast — it’s raining right now as I type, something nearly unheard of this time of year, and it’s absolutely glorious!
