Tuesday: Hili dialogue (and Leon lagniappe)

March 24, 2015 • 4:44 am

Well, we had several inches of snow yesterday: up to six inches in some parts of Chicago. It will all melt on Wednesday, though, as temperatures are predicted to be in the 60s (Fahrenheit). And the price of the Fancy Book remains at $5,110—still five time more than I ever hoped to get for it. Meanwhile in Dobrzyn, Hili has, I’m told, been neglecting her kibbles and wet food, probably because the hunting is good outdoors. But today she apparently is quite ravenous—and, well, a bit “fluffy:

Hili: A terrible hunger within me and only a book above me.
A: You do not look starving.
JAC: Indeed!! She’s not hungering for knowledge. Apparently, though, there’s an allusion to Kant in Hili’s words. Can you spot it?

In Polish:
Hili: Głód straszny we mnie i tylko jakaś książka nade mną.
Ja: Nie wyglądasz na zagłodzoną.
*******
Here’s a bonus Leon Monologue since you’ve been such good readers:
Leon: Do you hear? The jungle is calling me.

      1. …but when was the last time there actually was a cup of coffee on a coffee table? Seems like they’re mostly used for books and magazines. Beverages, if any, are kept away from the table, and generally don’t include coffee in that location….

  1. Hili might not look starving, but she sure looks not amused.

That is a great photo of Leon, I think the jungle is called bird or squirrel. 😉

With more than 5 days of bidding left for the Fancy Book (I love that name) there’s still hope for more.

  2. The piece of tree under Leon’s tail looks a bit like a lynx’s head. The white patch is its beard; probably an old lynx.

  3. I regularly check the website of Joseph Mallozzi, his claim to fame being one of the directors and writers who worked for the various Stargate SG-1, Atlantis and Universe series. I really love the Stargate series, and Joseph tells information about behind the scenes. He’s now working on another SF show called Dark Matter, based on graphic novels he produced.

Anyways, I didn’t intend this to be an ad for his website, Stargate or his newest show. They have Cat TShirt Thursdays at the production and I saw this picture:

I immediately thought of Professor Ceiling Cat.

I hope this link works the way I intend it and it does not actually show the picture, but gives the link. I would have emailed it, but I couldn’t find a link on your website besides the “media only”.

    1. Don’t worry, neither not embedding nor finding Jerry’s eddress is especially straightforward.

Word Press automatically turns what you think will be just a link into an embed. To prevent this, remove the https:// from the link. WP will add it back on and it will appear as a hotlink, not an image.

Unlike some bl*ggers, Jerry encourages the use of his work email by WEIT contributors. You can find his email address by clicking on the “Research Interests” tab at the top of this page, or just by Googling him.

      “Cat T-shirt Thursday”–what a great idea!
