  1. Congrats! I bet that’s a load off your shoulders.

I loved WEIT, I’m sure your next one will be entertaining & informative as always.

        1. It must be an aquired taste. Some of the games from ’10 were an audible nightmare…I seldom use the mute button during matches, but it almost became a reflex during that world cup. 🙂

          1. They gave out vuvuzelas at a Marlins game just after the ’10 Cup. It was a disaster. I thought Dan Uggla was gonna walk off the field. I saw a little girl grab one out of her brother’s hands and hit him over the head with it.

        1. … so, they worked as intended?
Srsly ; have you never considered how the bagpipes were counted as a weapon?

          1. Have you seen what Scotsmen eat? I figured if they could eat that stuff, they probably liked the bagpipes.

          2. Haggis as a weapon of (gastronomic) warfare? Now there’s an idea for dealing with cheese-eating surrender monkeys.
See your haggis and raise you a serving of Hákarl.

      1. PDFs of Martin Brasier’s last (or last-but-one ) book were online before my ink-on-paper copy reached me from Amazon. Scanned and OCR’d too – quite a good job, technically.

    1. PCC mentions the writing of a book frequently but I think it’s been a long while since he mentioned just what it is about. Whether it’s “about” biology or atheism is a matter of interpretation, with “yes and no” being as valid a guess as any.

  2. I want to get my degree changed so it reads “This degree has been conferred to Robert James Douglas, who haz learnings.”

  3. And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey.

  4. Can’t wait to get it. Are you coming to Seattle, WA for any book signings!
Maybe the cover will become an inset 😉

  5. Well done and congrats for finishing your œuvre.

I’m sure your boots are quite happy that you got that weight off your shoulders 😉

  6. Congratulations, Dr Coyne !

    D.E.E.E.E.P. – breath ! Rinse and repeat !

And, too, you are now freed up for as many ballgames this summer season —- as you wish, not ?! Y.E.A.H. !

    1. LOL I read that as “heartless” at first. Now, I think I’ll use it & see if people notice. 🙂

  7. And this post’s TITLE of yours, Professor, ’politely’ mimics re ‘the job’ which ‘d been at hand … … thus of the christians’ biblette, not ? ! john 19:28 – 30 … …

28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.

29 Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth.

30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, … … IT IS FINISHED: … … and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

Vinegar ? Vino, instead ? Quite so, of course ! for such a final thirst upon its completion !

Please, though, noooo need for allya’all to be ‘giving up’ any other ghosts nor … … ‘spirit’s ! ‘Tis time to boogie on down to the ball field, instead !

    Blue

  8. Congratulations! Can’t wait to read it. Hope it’s full of cat pictures (some info on evolution would be nice, too). I’ve really enjoyed your posts 🙂 Thanks!
