I’m one day from finishing my book, so excuse me while I show you some animal parents from Bored Panda. There’s something here for everyone (except botanists)—even for herp lovers.
My favorites are the lion cub trotting with the older ladies and, of course, the mother and baby squirrel.
Identify the hard species if you can.

BTW The first one is the nine-legged Threetail Gull, obviously.

That’s what I meant, the nine-legged plover!
This brings up one of my dad’s recurring jokes when I was small.
Little kid: How many cows are out there, dad?
Dad: Oh, just count the legs and divide by 4.
I may have failed to pass the joke down to my kids.
The second is the gharial. Next!
I didn’t know that synonym of ‘gavial’, but I thought I recognised it by the peculiar round snouttip, visible on the kids.
#9 (if I count right), prairie dog?
Of course I’m partial to the cats – especially the tigers. It’s a Siberian, if I’m not mistaken – the extra-broad nose gives it away. The local zoo has a few, which they list as Amur tigers. I just wish they weren’t too dangerous to cuddle, although I’d guess that their fur is not very soft and pettable. Other big cats in the collection include:
• Cheetah
• Jaguar
• Snow Leopard
• African Lion
The big cat display also includes the Red Panda and the Spotted Hyena.
The cub in picture #8 looks soooo happy.

Who would’ve guessed?
Pink-necked green-pigeon, Treron vernans, native to Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. The adult would appear to be a male.
Hard species? But they all look so soft!

Click through to the Bored Panda link. Jerry left some nice ones behind. It says something about me that out of all of them, the last one caught my attention. The comments there show that I’m not the only one.
I can see why the last one is appealing but my favourite is the pangolin & it’s cute little baby. Pangolins are one one my favourite animals!
Yeah, I liked that one too. Not the softest looking ride compared to some of the others, but seriously exotic to me.
Makes me imagine a Papa Bear and Baby Bear taking a side-by-side whizz!
