World Cup: Spoiler if you haven’t aren’t watching the game

The whole game I’ve been thinking, Messi (and Argentina) are really off form, but he just scored a truly beautiful goal off the post—his first goal in World Cup play since 2006. 2-0 Argentina at minute 66. And one for Bosnia-Herzegovina in the last few minutes.

And. . . it’s Argentina 2-1. Good game, even though Messi missed a great chance at the end to make it 3-1.

  1. You weren’t the only one who thought Argentina was off form. I too found their performance to be somewhat lackluster or at least falling short of all the hype they received prior to the start of the match. I can’t help but feel that if they encounter a stouter foe they will have a lot of difficulty, whether Messi is in top form or not.

  2. It was a sweet goal. Messi can make his opponents look like slow, blundering fools. The only comparable things I’ve seen in team sports were the great Bobby Orr single handedly killing penaltiesand Deion Sanders returning kickoffs.

BIH just scored at 84, so it’s not over.

  3. I do not think Argentina was off-form, but within the expected performance. The reason for that is that, apart from Messi and Di Maria, the remaining are average players.
