I’ve been remiss in posting about animal cams, but I don’t want you to miss this really nice Perigrine FalconCam in Fargo, North Dakota. You can see a live feed here, and I’ve posted a screenshot I just took below. Isn’t she lovely?
And you’ll be able to watch the chicks hatch and be raised! According to the information page, the mated pair produced four eggs, but one had a hole in it and was consumed by the parents for nutrition. According to Those Who Know, the eggs should begin hatching in 5-8 days.
You can see another livestream of the same nest, along with a list of current events here. That page also has recordings from past events, and, if you’re of a salacious bent, you can see the pair copulating (it takes just a few seconds).
Don’t miss the livecam, for the resolution is fantastic and the view very close.

I’ve been fascinating by Perigrine falcon’s since childhood. Back then, I knew them as duck hawks.
Mama falcon is dozing now. I did not know that falcon eyelids close from the bottom up! [What must they think of us?]

nest cams are the best thing about Spring (for those of us too allergic to go outdoors!)
this is in my hometown, right on main avenue. I used to watch them hunt in the park just north of the nest. It’s also amazing to watch the chicks learn to fly (though this is where many stories turn sad). One of last years chick is attempting to mate with an established female about two hours north in Grand Forks, no word on if the mating has been successful yet.
Can I make a plug for the fantastic Dyfi Osprey Project? Set in the magnificent wilds of Mid-Wales ( actually not far from my old university ) you can see a high res stream of these magnificent birds .. ( oh and the occasional train! )
