I like the statue of god. A typical Slavic pagan wood carving from pre-xian times that was adapted by the new religion. Religion is very adaptable.

I was wondering myself what that statue represented. I thought it may perhaps represent the christian deity, but I did not want to speak out and potentially embarrass myself.

This is a figure of Christus as he is often depicted in the folk art in Polish Tatra Mountains but this one is carved by our friend.

Hili’s just being descriptive, I think. “Over there, right by this god to my left, there’s a bird.”
I like that god — especially the ambiguity of the head ornamentation. The Sun’s rays or spikes of torture piercing the skull? The multiple possible ways to interpret the expression of the face only adds to it. I’d love to see more of the artist’s work.
