That’s a great image – indeed taken by MRO’s HiRISE camera. It did the same thing for when Phoenix landed, and it’s still mindblowing, to have MRO and Odessey relay data back to Earth from a Mars lander …
Like some others have said, this is more impressive than all the Olympics put together.
An astrophysicist I know is trying to develop computer models of the rings of Saturn based on data from the Cassini mission. If I understand him correctly, he’s pissed off because he’s not receiving new data because all of the NASA anntennas are pointing at Mars now because that’s the sexy project. Also, the Mars project appears to be able to siphon off funds from other projects whenever they feel that Mars Needs Money.
Don’t blame Mars, blame the criminals in the Military and the Congress and White House who are pissing away our children’s future with a military whose size is criminal.
When is the last time you say someone this happy at a church service?
(Who says you need to believe in a deity to have a purpose?)
