We now have about 45 entries in the Awesome Cat Contest (see rules here); three winners will get autographed books, and all you have to do is send a photo of your kitteh and a paragraph of 250 or fewer words describing why he/she is so awesome.
The deadline is Wednesday, at 5 p.m. CST (6 pm US EST).
This is going to be a tough one for our celebrity judges; there are many winsome cats and wonderful stories, with some heartbreaks, too. If your cat isn’t chosen, never fear, for the rest will form a reserve to be posted from time to time. All shall have prizes!

Checking the entry list, I don’t see any cat named Al. Could you re-send it, along with the paragraph? My university email address is easily found on my University of Chicago website.
It is indeed tough for the celebrity judges. I find that I’m not as brutally heartless and cold as I thought I was, at least not when it comes to kittehs and their humans.

Hi Mr. Dominic in YesterdayLand! I must ‘fess up–I didn’t bake Kitty-chan. The bakery in our Daiei sells Kitty-chan bread (which Papa sometimes brings home for Cici). I just happened to have the camera with me when I was in there buying a baguette (French bread is popular in Japan, along with German sausages and Mangled English… ;-))

Kink had me intimidated; he is a gorgeous lad– but I sent in a picture of my Calvin, and I hope it gets to the right email address in time.
Still trying to decide on a pic. I’d love to capture both Asherah’s cuteness & dignity in one shot but it’s difficult. Oh and her baby pictures when her ears were bigger than her head are awfully sweet. Will she be disqualified if I send in multiple pictures?
