National Geographic photo contest

Take five minutes and go over to The Big Picture at boston.com, where you’ll find 25 stunning photos that were entered this year’s National Geographic international photo contest.  (You can vote for the “viewers’ choice winners at the NG website.)   It’s nice to see great photography these days that isn’t Photoshopped.  Here’s one entry:

Andrew and his friend, a young sperm whale named Scar, were swimming together off the west coast of Dominica. The two of them became “friends” after Andrew saved Scar’s life. (Photo and caption by Peter Allinson)

  1. The two of them became “friends” after Andrew saved Scar’s life.

Oh yeah. He pulled a thorn out of Scar’s paw, do I remember that right?

  2. Well, it’s cool up until his buddy Scar decides to take him along on a deep dive of a couple thousand feet.
